Default Programmer with regear

I am looking at regearing my '13 JKU. I recently purchased a superchips flashpaq to do the obvious stuff for adjusting speedo and tire size. I went ahead and got the flashpaq for a little performance boost as I wasn't originally thinking of a regear right now due to costs.

I have NOT installed it yet.

Now that I'm considering moving forward with the regear and taking into account some of the concerning threads about the flashpaq, would you just sell it and get an AEV procal? The procal does allow you to adjust for regearing, right?

Thoughts/comments?

most of the problems with the super chips is user error. I didn't have an issue with mine, I didn't fry my ecm. If you follow the prompts you won't have an issue. I like the flashpaq, it works well and is easy to use. I've got it on the 87 tune, am running 35's w/ 4.11 gears and still getting a combined mpg of 18. I do have a manual, so I don't worry about shift points

Can't I just get the shop that puts in my new gears to reprogram everything?

No, you will need a programer or pro cal to recalibrate the computer. I have both the super chip and pro cal and prefer the pro cal for speed and simplicity. I tried different programs with the super chip and really didn't notice any real differences.

they can and should, but they will still need a tuner/procal supplied by you.
