Excellent write up and thank you for being so detailed we look forward to the rest of it.

I spy with my little eye - your belt routing is wrong - and I can't tell but you may be spinning your water pump backwards which can lead to over - heating.

Nice write up very detailed. Love to hear more after you get some miles on it.
Now a question for Ripp, If i purchased your supercharger kit and and put a 1mm smaller pulley to get more boost down low and then set a waste gate to vent at 8psi when it is reached would this be possible without negative reliability effects?

Day 2 Afternoon: Duh!!!!

Removing and reinstalling the belt only took about 10 mins. I'm really liking simple fixes so far.

The best part however was in the test drive. I subjected it to the same heavy footed, backing off the gas "test" I did before that got the TRD warning to come on and cause it to go into limp mode. NOTHING. Not a peep from the ECU. I'm going out this evening to run a few errands and I will again give it one or two "tests", while still mainly trying to drive like a sane person.

Life is WAY more fun when you don't worry about going limp! lol If one of you ba$tards uses that in a sig...

I just ordered a reconditioned kit from RIPP. Chris was very helpful. Should be here next week. My MBRP exhaust should be here tomorrow. Keep you all posted.

Wow that was fast. lol You went from being 90% on the fence to ordering one! And Chris will definitely take good care of you. Heck he is still putting up with me and all my annoying questions, so that says something right there. lol Get some info about your JK up in your sig. Auto or Manual, etc...

Seeing this and other member's on here makes me want a supercharger bad... Just that damn money thing always ruining my fun. Someone spoke of reconditioned kits? What kind of savings are we talking?

We have smaller pulleys... it's not the speed of the blower, its the efficency of the engine. This engine like Saharablack said comes in at 2000rpm. Thats where the actual volumetric efficiency of the heads are - stuffing boost where boost doesn't flow will only hurt things like head gaskets and head studs. Thats why we didnt use a positive displacment blower like a roots or whipple style.

The second issue is the over protectiveness of the trans anyone with a properly dialed in 6sp will tell you... there is plenty of power from real down low through red line. We would suggest trying it out - right out of the box - 8psi is not the limit we have tested higher boost levels - but in testing it didn't really produce higher HP numbers - until there are proper supporting items, we don't think slipping more boost is the real answer... like anything else its combination. We've found that our supercharger kit combined with stock manifolds and an MBRP exhaust produces the most usable and effective power. Our real next move will be headers and a cross over pipe that works - we're not going to endorse anything outside of this combination because we've been near compulsive about testing.

IN SHORT you can install a slightly smaller pulley, we can even sell it to you and you won't have to bleed off any of the excess boost or re-tune... the gains are there at for the time being with no issues...and your already pretuned for the higher boost. However the down side is you'll be sending more boost were it doesn't fit and spinning the blower faster promoting more wear...

So - Yes and no...

But if I end up really enjoying the RIPP kit I've thought about pimping their product and having RIPP Modifications up there.

*Lest anyone think AEV built my JK I had the decals made up, because AEV is pretty much the only company I can think of who doesn't include decals with purchases and flat out won't give them up unless they build your jeep.
How'd you get those AEV decals made, if you don't mind me asking. I looove AEV, but would much rather build my own jeep than send it all the way to montana and pay for labor just for their decals. It's lame how elitist they are about their decals.

Do you still have the windshield decal that you're not using? Is there a template that you have for the quarter panel and windshield decals? Do you have pictures?

Sorry for the hijack. That RIPP SC is sick!
