OK, I am speechless. That looks like a good project.

I will definitely flame you for the rims, but with all of the other additions I think you can just say that is how you roll. With 35" tires I believe 18" is more than enough steel. With 20's I think you need to go to 37" rubber in order to look correct. Again that is probably just my personal taste though. For me the 17" AEV Pintlers are the doo-doo. I think those with 35's really work out nicely for 4 door JK's.

The opinions on which tires would be best for your conditions will vary greatly. A lot have been raving about the Duratracs recently. I haven't seen any unhappy owners fo these tires to date. There are a lot of reasons for that but I believe they are rated for the snow, as well as being an aggresive looking all terrain. It seems to meet many of the needs you have for the tire (snow, mud, street).

The leather is going to be nice. Color choices... classic dark brown for me, but I have seen some really nice colored leather seats in photos on this site.

Good luck and I will definitely follow your build.

It's funny you mention that, I found last night that everyone raves about the Duratrac's as well, so that's what I'm going to be getting... Great idea!

I will turn believers out of you all (HAHA), I think the rims will be sweet, it's the only rim my wife and I could agree on, and with 350hp under the hood and 5.13's, it'll scoot and look consistent.... Putting more agressive rims on a slow rig is a big no no IMHO, but it'll be quick, tall, and capable... I hope (crossing fingers)

Well congrats on the better year man, I think that it will be one sweet looking as well as capable rig. I believe that rim size is personal preference and well since it's your rig then get what you want, cause in the end your the one driving it. Can't wait to see the pictures like I said before it sounds like it's going to be sweet.

-5.7L Hemi Installation, 545RFE Transmission w/ 3.5" Single Exhaust
-5.13 Gears
-AEV Front Bumper
-AEV Power Plant
-AEV Rear Bumper
-AEV Head Reduction Hood

-35 x 12.5 Dick Cepek FC II's

This is going to be my second Jeep, my last one was a ZJ Limited with a 4.5" kit, custom steering mods, 318 V8, and some 32.5" rubber. Some might flame me on the rims, but it's more important to me that the vehicle handles well on the road in addition to being extremely capable with the mud and snow I run into here in Michigan.

I'm having all of the work done by Van Andel Flikkema Jeep here in Grand Rapids, they are doing everything for around 30k after tax, plus they are giving me a rental for a month free of charge. I think they're more excited to do the job than I am.

Anyway, I will post pics as I get them, otherwise, if anyone would like to comment on the following, I would appreciate it...

-Tires - Are they good all-around tires? Good for snow? Any experiences?
-Katzkin - Those with Silver Rubicons, do any of you have Katzkin? What colors did you pick?

Thanks guys, looking forward to all of this...

Ryan

Ryan,

I'd like to start by saying I really like your build and I wish my accounting department would clear me to perform the same build.

You are essentially building a 5.7L Hemi AEV JK which also what I would like to have, so I have given this process some thought as you have for the past couple of years.

The JKBuilder on the AEV website prices this build at $36.5K while your local Jeep dealer wants $30K.

From an experience and financial perspective having AEV do the build warrants the extra $6-7K.

The resale value will be higher on AEV which a known brand and custom builder in this market. They are *almost* like Shelby, Foose, Rousch, Saleen and Callaway in the car world.

AEV builds enough JK's they probably have it down to a science, particularly since they designed and build many of the parts.

If you were buying a used JK, which badge would you prefer Van Andel Flikkema or AEV?

Furthermore, if I was pumping $30-35K into a vehicle it would be no more than 1 year old and certainly not a first model year.

Food for thought.
