Default Prorock44 without...

Im trying to figure out if its possible to use a front Prorock44 axle without any axle shafts, locker/carrier, ring and pinion or a front drive shaft. So really just the houseing with the unit bearing and rotors...2wd only essentially.

I have my coil overs ready to be installed but I ran out of money for gears, lockers and axle shafts. So can I install the prorock "bare" so I can weld up the brackets only once for my coil overs? Or just I just sit and wait another 6 months till I get save up for the other parts. Well I should be able to finish the front axle in three months, but would still have to wait until xmas to put in the rear gears and locker. I know that you cant run two different gear sizes. I would just keep the front drive shaft off unit the rear was finshed.. Any help??

I don't see why you couldn't run it in 2 wheel drive .i mean basically your just using the mty housing to hold your wheels and bearings on, I say go for it!

if its possible i wouldnt run it, at least let it sit in your garage until you're able to get the parts you need. for two reasons, one it would probably be easier to work on off the jeep. two, it keeps road grim out of the housing, but neither are a big deal

Can you? Yes. Should you. Oh god no. At least, that's my option. If for no other reason than doing everything all at once, and doing it right, try to think of this: All that time with those parts off sure is alot of time to possibly lose something. You know how them gremlins can be... Plus it will be a pain in the ass having to deal with taking the axle off again just to put everything into it later. And if your not installing the shafts/gears/carrier yourself...then your just begging to pay more in labor.

Just wait, and save. Do it all at once. Nothing good can possibly come from jumping the gun, and what's the point of the PR44 if you can't even use it! Plus, trails secretly giggle at 2wd Jeeps. And we just can't have that.

Since when do you have to take the axle OFF to install lockers, gears and axle shafts? But yes I plan on doing that part myself too. And I have two of the SBS plugs from Evo Already, not sure if they will fit in the unlimited housing though...Thanks for your in-put guys.
