Default Pro's and con's of TF 2.5 vs RK stock mod

I sold a bunch of stuff today and find myself with $800 available to buy my lift. I want to stick with a 2.5" and have narrowed it down to these 2 thanks to all the threads on this forum.

So, i want to call Stan @ Northridge on Monday and order. I just can't seem to make the final decision. I keep going back and forth between the 2. So I'm asking for your help in finalising this decision.

Thanks guys.

I went with the RK Stock Mod kit and couldn't be happier. I really like that you can easily upgrade the RK stuff, started with Stock Mod and plan to slowly upgrade till I get the Max Travel kit.

Thanks for the replies guys.

How much actual lift did you guys get from your respective kits? And after install did you need anything other than an alignment?

I have TF 3" coils on my 4 door w/35s.... Progressive springs on the RK fronts make for a nice street ride but the TF liner fronts offer more flex - ride is great but you'll need to do front lower and rear upper control arms along with track bars. Do it once - dial it in and enjoy the ride.

I would say I got about 3" out of the RK kit. I also got the 1.5" spidertrax spacers as I was running stock rims and tires, also went with the Bilstein 5100 shocks and front and rear bump stops. I didn't do an alignment either, there is good write up here that tells exactly what to do yourself, very easy.

I ran the TF 2.5 BB w 9550 shocks for about a year and now have the RK stock mod with the addition of RK LCA's and Bilstein 5100 series shocks. I had a hard time deciding between the two myself but love that the RK lift is upgradable and it comes with an adjustable front track bar. I will admit the front progressive rate springs are pretty stiff but no worries of the nose sagging with the addition of a winch and steel front bumper. I highly reccomend front LCA's with the RK lift. As already stated, it's closer to 3in. My steering was flighty as hell until I dialed the castor back in w the LCA's. The RK lift really levels out a JKU nicely. My rear is only 1/4 of an inch higher than the front. Here's a pic on level ground.

And back and forth we go. . So LCA's...must have, should have, or nice to have? And even with a 2.5" lift there are steering issues? One reason I was going with the 2.5" was to keep it as simple as possible without needing a lot of 'extras'.

Thanks for the pics Topkicker. Its great to see the end result of these lifts.

Ha! I know what ya mean. It's a never ending cycle of spending more $$$. FWIW, If you don't plan on adding a bunch of nose weight to the stock springs, the TF 2.5 BB matched with their 9550 shocks is the way to go on a JK that sees 90+ percent of its time on pavement. You get exactly the amout of lift the spacers give you and the ride and steering is virtually the same as stock. It matches up perfect w 33in tires. Here's a pic with the BB, 33's, and stock bumper.
