Default punctured sidewall looking for bigger tire

punctured a sidewall now I'm looking for a bigger tire (currently stock 32's)
I am looking at the Nitto Trail Grappler M/T (looking for a 3ply side wall)
looking at these two sizes
285/70R17 or 295/70R18 or even a 305
right now I can't afford regearing and beefing up the suspension that a 35 would take,, but would a 34 take regearing also.. 33 as far as I could tell wouldn't.

I would like to go with the largest tire... wheel fairly hard, rocks, etc... lots of mountain driving in Colorado as well.

2011 2DR auto, 4.10's, running a 2 1/2" lift,
worried about going to large,, so what is to large before regearing is needed.... other then going to 35's.

Or any other tire suggestions, I seem to be tearing into the sidewalls pretty good... finally punctured one... I air down to 15..

I'm also looking for a good off road rim... any suggestions on rims

thanks

I'm running 35" trail grapplers with 4.10's and it isn't horrible. The Superchips Vivid tuner helps some. You may lose a little power, but it won't be horrible.

Make sure you get a tuner or pro cal to recalibrate the tire size, which will correct the shift points.

I have 295/70r17 toyo m/ts on my 2011 with 3.73 gears and its fine, so with 4.1's I think you could scrape by with 35s and be fine.

If you want a really tough tire that works on the road and really well on the trail then try Super Swamper TSL/SX. Really strong sidewalls. You can groove them to make them better for your use too.

I'm running 35"s with the 3.8 auto and 4.10s on a JKU and it's ok. With over-drive off at freeway speeds I'm between 2700~ 3000 rpms, right in the power band. It's not as responsive off the line, but even stock it never was. Your rig is a hundred or so pounds lighter too, so there's that.
