Default Question on 285s again...

New to the site. Its great. Just got 07 x last week. (3rd Jeep). Considering 285x75x16 on either 16x8 or 16x10. Not really wanting to lift and wont be doing any extreme wheeling. Any thoughts......

I've been running that size with 16x8 rims and it's done great for me.

Welcome! And I'd do 16x8's with 285's, too. It's just about perfect. I'll be doing 16x8's with 315's soon, which would be a little narrower than ideal for the street.

Can you help educate me on why this is?

Thanks

You didn't ask me, but I'd suggest you Google "narrow wheels poor man's beadlock". Lots of stuff on the web.

Been running 285/16s for 3 years now on 8s. About 11.5" wide. No lift (yet) but did get rims with 4.5" back spacing. No rubbing problems.

with a wider tire and a narrower wheel the wider tire's bead is pushed against the lip of the rim and helps keep it from unseating when aired down.
That makes sense.

Thanks for the explanation

8s with 4.5" BS. Looks great.

And continues to look great once you've lifted and added more weight to vehicle ...
