Default Question about 285/75-17's

I keep getting conflicted info so please help me out.

I have to get winter tires this year but no one makes 255/75-17 winters except Goodyear Fortera. Now, also I want to keep the stock rims but go with BFG/TA-KO 285/70-17's because I think they look better than the Goodyears. My local tire place tell me that this shouldn't make a huge difference other than throw out the speedo by a bit. BUT, the dealer is telling me that if I go with the 285's, it'll affect the 4WD, TPMS, ABS and he's positive that my dog will die. Frankly I'm a little concerened ...I love my dog!!!

Anyone here experience ANY issues at all after installing 285/75-17's????

Thanks in advance.

They have a BFG ATKO in 265 70 17, that is just about the same size as stock SRA's

I have these tires I my Jeep, and I haven't experienced any of those issues. The only problem I had was a rub at a full turn of the steering wheel. I added the 1.50" wheel spacers, and that rub went away.

285's will not affect the 4WD, TPMS, or ABS. There are plenty of JK's here that are running much bigger tires without those being affected including myself.

On stock rims, spacers are optional. I would have never put spacers on except when I put the clayton arms on they rubbed in the rear. Otherwise, the only down side is I couldn't crank the wheels.

I have 285X70X17 MT. BAJA ATZ`s on my 2 door Rubicon. Only a very slight rub on the left hand side of the front swaybar at full right lock. Nothing else. I don`t think being right hand drive (Aus.) makes any difference.

I just got these 275-70-17 MTR Goodyears,

i did my homework, and i deceided this was the best size for my application,
Its just a hair bigger than stock rubicon tires, MTR tires look much better. and my experience on these tires from the previous rubicon generation... i love these tires.

In my taste, its about proportion. This tires has right proportion in wheel, tire and lift. I dont do extreme 4 wheeling plus itl be a daily driver.

The dealer is full of crap. The 285's will not affect any of those things. 285/70 is just barely bigger (basically a 33" tire) than the stock 32" tires that come on pretty much all Wranglers now.
