Default Question about 33's with stock 3:73 and Auto

Hey guys need some advice. Presently I have the stock 32's with 3:73's and an auto tranny. Also have a 2" BB. If I should go to 33x12.50's on say a 17x9 wheel would I see much difference in power? What a Flashpaq be enough? I want to go to 35's but am having a hard time forking out $1700 for the swap out of gears to 5:13's. If I put out that much cash it's not gonna leave nothing for any other mods for a while. For that price I could just about get all the other "goodies". Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

You won't see the difference with the 33" tires

Two questions:

How happy are you with the power of your JK now? (personally, I think the auto's are under-geared/under-powered straight from the factory.)

If you want 35's, just how happy are you going to be with a tire that is only an inch taller than your stockers? (meaning, how soon will you lose money by selling them used and upgrading to 35's anyway)

Yes, the Flashpaq should help a bit regardless of tire size, but there is no performance mod that can compare to re-gearing. My opinion, get the 35's now and turn O/D off until you can afford the gears.

I'm running 33's with an auto and superchips! No loss at all unless you get a head wind of 15-20 plus mph! Superchips was my best money spent yet by far.

It all depends on the tire......they all weigh differently. When you say you have 32s....is that what they actually measure out at, or is that just what it says they are. Remember they all are smaller than they say. My 33s are just a hair under 32" (aired down to 30). So if you actually have 32s then you may not see any difference. I have 4:10s and auto and the stock tires on the X were 29s and when I went from them to the 33s I noticed a big difference....but I also got different wheels too. Don't know how much weight difference the new aluminum wheels were from the stock steelies. Good thing was that the Flashpaq (I already had a CAI) got the power almost back up to stock..

i went from stock sahara 32's to 285/70/17 on new rims. the stock sahara's weigh 70.5 pounds apiece. my current 33's weigh 81 pounds. i noticed a difference with my 3.73's and auto tranny. the jeep gets about 1 or 1 1/2 mpg less and is slightly slower. i really want the 35's also. i won't get the 35's until i get a regear. in the long run, if you are going to get the regear at some point, then i wouod say skip the 33's. it will save you the money and time selling the 33's for the wheel setup you want.

That is a hard decsision.... Get 33's now on 17x9's or save-up and get the 35's. and re-gear. I have 3:73 and 33x12.5x17 on 17'x9's. I can say that from my stock 225/75/16 on 16x7's that it was a huge jump. (It used to be really peppy, not so much now). I am currently saving up to do a re-gear to either 4:88 or 5:13. But, I do not plan on 35's.
If you do really want 35's. I would save the cash and do it all at once. The price diff in tires is not that much.
I do not think you will be happy running 35's on 3:73 IMO. I know people have done it but it is not much fun.
Good luck in your decision !

i got 33" toyos on the stock sahara rims and a 2.5" skyjacker coil lift and there is a little bit of power difference, but not enough to justify regearing. Now 35s would be another story
