A question about exhausts..
So last night I was out having a little tooooo much fun in the Jeep and well I destroyed my factory exhaust and so now I'm in the neighborhood at looking in getting a new exhaust. Is it just cheaper to go ahead and buy another factory exhaust or would it be better to go with an aftermarket one? I know it would probably be better to go with an aftermarket so I don't end up spending money that wasn't necessary when I eventually hook it on something else. I've been checking out some of the MBRP exhausts and all of the "muffler before axle" exhaust systems say that it requires the evap canister to be relocated...has anyone dealt with this? How bad would it be relocating it? I'm not looking to get much sound improvement as I don't want to head down the ricer route, just something that's gonna keep from tearing my exhaust off and doesn't sound to loud...any help or suggestions would be much appreciated!

Since you have an unlimited, you would not need to relocate the evep. canister with the MBRP "Offroad" exhaust. It locates the muffler a little farther down past the canister but before the axle. I have this exhaust on a 2 door where the muffler is right next to the canister and I had to install one of MBRP's heat shields. I would highly recommend this system in stainless steel, I believe it comes with a lifetime warranty on the stainless? As for sound, it's not "Ricer" at all, more of a deep throaty tone that you'll like.
Call Dave at Northridge and he'll hook you up.

There are plenty of ways to address this and your local muffler shop is as good as any of them. There are bring your own can kits available, complete cat back systems and the option of simply dealing with your local muffler shop. The one thing to make sure of for performance is to run with a pass through tube type as opposed to chambered/baffled. The tone from chambered mufflers such as the Flowmaster is nice, but it will come up short on the performance end. Lastly, whatever you do, relocate the can because that is likely why you are in your current situation.
I went with a flowmaster. Not any real performance difference at all, but I love the tone. And the flow that I got ended up being about 1/3 the size of the stock POS. Don't waste any sort of money on a tip because you'll likely bang it up and/or bend it pretty bad if you do any sort of real off roading. Mine ended up costing me about $170 including the muffler and install. Since you want quieter, I would recommend the one series of flow called the 70 series or even the hushpower because I think they remain pretty quiet. I have a 40 series and I love the tone, nice deep rumble, but it can get a bit loud at times. I'm just used to it by now.
I'm not overly familiar with the various exhaust options, however as someone who used to drive a bagged and body dropped s-10, I had to relocate my evap canister to avoid dragging it off. Extend 2 wires, and use heater hose to extend the lines... And voilà, you've moved your canister for less than 10 bux in 5 minutes.
So realistically don't let the relocation make up any of your decisions as it is really simple, and a multitude of places to put it.
Happy exhausting!

The MBRP exhaust only requires an evap relocation or our heat shield on the 2 door JK's. 4 door JK's have more length in the mid pipe so our muffler does not sit very close to the factory evap location. Sounds like you're looking for our offroad relocation in T-409 stainless. Look for part number S5514409 when you're ready to place an order.

x2 on the flowmaster, i went for the deltaflow 50 series, 175 installed and tucked up out of the way. 50 is between the 40 and the 70 as far as sound....I really like it
