Default Question about OME shocks

I just ordered the OME lift bundle from Dave @ Northridge4x4 (Thanks Dave! ) and was wondering if it was possible to remove the rock guards on the shocks and replace them with regular boots.

More of an aesthetic thing for me than functional, it always seems that rock shields on shocks rub and wear the paint off. I just thought it would look pretty slick with yellow shocks and black boots on a yellow JK.

actually, the rock shields are a much better way to protect your shock shafts as rubber boots do nothing more than act as a collector of mud, dirt, water and debris. rubber boots will ultimately cause your shafts to rust out and i usually advise people to cut them off if they have them. the rock shields provide good protection for the shafts and being that they are open on the ends, allow things like water, mud and debris to fall through.

if anything, i would remove the shields completely and call it a day but, to that end, i don't know how easy that would be to do.

Hmm, I never even gave that a thought. Way to shut down my dreams and aspirations.

Haha, I appreciate it especially being in the Good Ol' Northwoods with the salt and such. I don't need to help it stick anywhere anymore than it already does.
