Default Question about RK spring clips

So I am putting on my RK spring clips and when the spring is compressed the clip won't install. I decompressed the spring and installed the clips. What concerns me is when the spring is compressed it compresses on the spring clip and holds up the full compression. Is this okay? Did I do something wrong. Thanks.

The way I see it where your thumb is is where it clips the spring the parts with the elongated slot goes on the spring perch and yup mine is also pinched when compressed.

Okay I must be good then. I was thinking it would just bend down. Here is a better pic.
