Default Question about running 35's...

First off, if you are just gonna tell me to search the forum for the answer, don't bother replying...all I need to know is if I am going to run 35's on a 17x9'' Moto Metal wheel with a 2.5'' Tera BB, do I have to have wheel spacers? I figured the 2.5'' lift would fix the rubbing issue, but it seems like I've read that most people tend to have 1.5'' spacers as well. If that's the case, I would rather just get a bigger lift, because spacers are crap and I don't trust them as far as I can throw them! Thanks for you help.

Why are spacers crap? I run my 35's with 1.5" spacers on/offroad with zero issues.

You need wheel back spacing if you don't like spacers.

That lift clears 35's. Wheel spacers won't be needed as long as the wheels have enough backspacing. If there isn't enough backspacing, more lift wouldn't help because your rear swaybar links will rub.

You don't seem to be understanding where they are gonna rub at. The wider tires, on stock rims, will rub the shocks and inner suspension components. That is why you need to either buy new rims with the proper backspacing for the wider tires, or get spacers. If you go with spacers I would recommend the Spidertrax brand.

It depends on the backspacing of your new wheels, not your lift. Do you know the back spacing of your new wheels?

get spacers anyway, they don't look all that much different when they're on.

huh? Spacers will make it look different. And he doesn't need spacers if the wheels have proper backspacing. OP, find out what the backspacing is on the wheels you are talking about.

One: spacers are not crap, not the quality Spidertrax ones or the like, at least.

Two: why would you need spacers to begin with if you're using an aftermarket wheel? Buy the new wheels with 4.5" of backspacing or less ... period. That's it.

Thanks everyone, the backspacing is -12mm offset which I believe is the right amount so that I won't have to use spacers. The wheels are Moto Metal MO951's.
