Default Question about stock driveshafts..........

Was wondering how much of a lift the stock driveshafts can take? Have heard several people say that anything over 4" will require modified driveshafts. Any insight on this?

I've mostly read anything over 3"... Lots of us are running 2 or 2.5" lifts with stock shafts, but the more the lift the sooner you'll wear out the stock ones and have to go aftermarket. Sometimes it takes a few months, sometimes they will last longer.

I got 5" lift on my 2dr and got 11k before my rear driveshaft died on me...actually a couple of weeks ago - haven't replaced it yet...trying to decide whether to do it myself or let the dealer do it (not warrantied btw). Front is still going strong - knock on wood.

But this is just me...other folks have had less luck after installing their lift - some only getting a few hundred miles or so...just depends on your situation, how often you go wheelin', etc.
