Default Question about tires

was just wondering if a 285/75r16 would rub on the wheel well of a JK with stock 16" wheels?

you can do a search but the more you search the more you are gonna be scratching your head. some will say YES and some will say NO. I would say give it a try and be prepared to buy spacers in case it doesn't work. that is what i am doing with my new 305/70 R16, I am getting rims with 5" backspacing knowing I may need to get spacers!

I think they will with the stock wheels. They have a lot of backspacing and really suck the tires in. I ran 265/75R16's on the stock steel wheels and they came close to rubbing, but never did. I think a 285 would though.

Although, a 285 is pretty wide for the stock 6.5" wide wheels. I think if you go with 285's, you should look for a wider wheel with less back spacing.

Have you thought about 255/85 16's? Stock width but a little over 34" tall.
