Default Question about tires

Hey guys,

So I have a question about tires. Hopefully by mid summer time I'll be upgrading my lift along with tires and I'm a little bit on the wall about which route to go. Currently I'm running Toyo's and could not be more happy with them. They work excellent in the rocks up here along with the snow/ice we have here during the winter time but at a 37 in tire I'm looking for something a little lighter.

As of now I've narrowed it down to the Nitto Mud Grappler's or the Goodyear Wrangler MT/R's. If you could provide some insight on how these tires have worked for you both off road but as well in the snow, it would be much appreciated

Feel free to post some pics!

I run the 35" MT/R's on 15" MB72's. Tire + wheel weigh in at 82lbs total. They do well in the snow and I've have had 0 problems with them. They balanced fine, are smooth and quiet on the road, and look aggressive. I have gotten many compliments. The mud grapplers are pretty loud and heavy from what I've heard.

nitto and toyo are the same company and the mud grapplers are basically an agressive version of the toyo mt. needless to say, they will weigh about the same - really heavy. i have run mt/r's with kevlar in the past and, while they are lighter, they also have thinner sidewalls and by comparison, do not perform as well as toyo's. also, i had a hell of a time getting my mt/r's to balance and have never had any problems balancing toyos. in fact, on the last 3 sets i've gotten, i just installed them on my beadlocks and called it a day without noticing any ill effects.

Thanks for the advice guys.

@Wayoflife, have you had any experience with the Nitto tires? Up here in Montana, almost 100% of the trails that I've encountered are rock, any advice as to how the Nitto's perform compared to any other tires such as the Toyo's? I've basically come to conclusion that I'm driving a Jeep and not a Ferrari so weight is not much of a concern. In the future I do plan on re-gearing so I'm not too worried about the weights of tires.

@Everyone, how would you rate the on road wear of the Nittos?

Thanks everyone
