Default Question for any manual transmission experts

Wondering if there is any way to adjust or get rid of the spring mechanisim that center's the shiter to the 3rd 4th gear column. I would like to have no spring tension between 1st through 4th, and to lighten the spring tension for 5th and 6th. I'm guessing that this is not a simple adjustment, but thought I'd post the question, just in case that it is???

nope. the springs are inside the transmission, most likely in the top cover. I would not recommend screwing with it but you could pull the top and put lighter springs that fit inside

Think of it as extra exercise for your forearm for Free!

Oh and with no springs, it would just fall into gear. Very Scary!
