Default Question on Lifts

Maybe I'm just reading too much into it, but here goes anyway:

Rubicons sit about an inch higher than a Sport... and all the threads and recommendations on lifts and tire sizes go based on a Sport. So.. the 2 part question is: When lifts say for JK Rubicon 3.5" lift, does that mean it lifts it 3.5" over the 1" on the Rubicon making it 4.5" over a Sport? Or... does it go based on a Sport which sits an inch lower meaning 3.5" on a Sport and only 2.5" on a Rubicon?

Rubicon is the brand. So a JK Rubicon 3.5 is the brand of lift. Yes you will get a little more then the Sport but if you have rails/bumpers/winches you will start to lose some.

Your best bet is to do a search here on the forum for the specific lift you are looking at.

Lift heights vary from mfg to mfg, and rarely give the listed height. (ex. TF 2.5" coils give 3-3.5", TF 3" coils give 4-5", etc ... depending on model and any added weight from armor or winch or whatever)

In short, don't go by the propaganda put out by the salesmen...

THe Rubi sits higher than the sport because they have a stock lift on it (taller springs on a rubi than a sport). if you take a rubi and add a 3.5" lift, you are going to net the same amout of lift as if you added the 3.5" to a sport.

Now, the overall height you will gain with a lift varries on a couple different things - mainly 2dr vs 4dr and hard top vs. soft top.

A 2rd is going to net a higher lift than a 4dr and a soft top will get more than a hard top. As stated before, bumpers will also play into the overall height.

Hope that helps!
