Default Question on lower control arms

I recently put on a TF 2.5 coil lift and some 35s I also ordered high clearance lower control arms which are on back order. My question is do I need them, would it be better with/without them what are the pros/cons of this?

You get many benifits from the Lca's. You can dial in caster to stop the wandering I'll handling that comes with lifting your jeep. You get more ground clearance and the arms are stronger than stock. Lastly, if you wan to go higher you can dial everything in again...well worth the money.

For the rear you would want uppers for pinion adjustment.
Lowers would need to be drawn in to raise the pinion.

Front LCA's will help with your caster/loose steering and generally what people do first.

The only real reason to run longer front lower control arms is to compensate for lost caster from the lift. At 2.5" you may find that you don't need them. You could install the rest of the lift and see how the steering is. If it doesn't track straight driving down the highway and feels like it wants to wander as you constantly correct from one side to the other, then you can fix that with front LCA's. You want to install control arms with the Jeep on the ground anyway, so replacing them is just a couple of 21mm bolts and a little pushing the front axle forward to get the longer arms to line up.

I have the same lift and went with Rock Krawler adjustable LCA's and adjustable track bar (TF is great too!!). I recommend them... I didn't want my $40K Jeep driving like a ship on the ocean... besides my wife will drive it occasionally and I didn't want to worry about her being all over the road.

Chris at JeepAdOns can help you with options.

Just my 2 cents.

Another inexpensive option for caster, AEv Drop brackets.

Definitely better to have the LCA. As the above post says you could also go with the cheaper AEV drop brackets. The down side to the brackets is that you lose ground clearance and still have the stock control arms.

The stock control arms are fairly weak. We can set you up with some RK adjustable arms. PM us or send us an e-mail if you would like a quote. sales@smashboogie4x4.com

OR, if you one STAYS with a 2-3 inch above stock height, fixed LCAs are an option also- JKS.
