Default Question on ProRock 44

Doing my homework for Phase 2 of my build.. I'll be upgrading my front axle and want to know if a ProRock 44 is stout enough to enough the weight and power of a Gen 2 LS3..

Not a big fan of manual locking hubs - hate them actually so I'm trying to avoid them as best as possible..

I've heard of those PR44's taking some abuse but if you have already dumped money into such a mod as a V8 I'd vote for 60's. Dont even bother chancing it and spending the money twice.

That's weird, most people love to get a manual hub for 2 reasons, biggest reason is that the hub should blow before the u-joints, R&P or a shaft. Much easier to change out a hub.
Also the fact that you can lock in the front or unlock the front while in 4 low has its advantage.

An LS3 can break a bunch of parts. The answer to your question is maybe. Using a 37" or smaller tire, built correctly and with the proper expectations, a PR44 will work well. To really have fun PR60's would be a better option. If you don't want locking hubs, order them with drive flanges. Locking hubs, especially our Dynalocs, are very durable. They're a worthwhile upgrade.

Then run drive flanges on your 60. So long as you have a selectable locker up front you'd be fine.

Sorry, but I'd go with a 60 and drive flanges over a 44 if you're going with a high-output v-8.

Thank you for responding.. I'll be running 37s and probably will not go any bigger unless a 17" rim won't accommodate the proper brakes on a prorock 60 to safely stop the Jeep.. Do you believe a bigger rim will be necessary for the proper brakes on a 60?

Also, the Gen 2 LS3 comes through stock with 480hp ($6500 complete, can't beat that!) and I'll probably tweak it out even more.. Can't help myself.. Which rear axel do you think would be the best application for 550-700hp?

Bumping this up.. Really interested in the rear axle as well.. Not so sure a D60 will hold this hp..

Wow, $6,500 complete huh?
My buddy at turnkeyenginesupply (dot com) is not even close to that price complete .

What transmission are you going to use?
