ARB'S seem to be really good. But, they are expensive, you get what you pay for.

I don't have a locker and don't plan on getting one because i'll probably never need it but if I was going to buy one i'd get an ARB for sure. They're well worth the money and if they're installed properly they can last a very long time.

I've done some research on lockers because I was in the process of getting everything together for a gear install and figured I might as well install a rear locker as well (changed my mind in the meantime). If you're gonna do a locker up front in a D30 then an Auburn ected or eaton e locker are good choices when it comes to electronic but most people, vendors, manufacturers and jeep guru's don't recommend them for the rear D44 because they are prone to failure due to their design. With that being said BlackNorthernJK is running an Auburn Ected in his D44 and his seems to be just fine thus far. Unless you have front and rear Rubicon D44's you wont be able to use the factory Rubicon elockers made by GKN. Basically if you want a locker your best bet for the D44 is still an ARB when it comes to selectables. If you want to run an automatic locker like a detroit for example thats an entirely different story.

Thanks for the reply! By the way, which one of the alxe's locker is more important when in the trail, the locker in the front or in the rear? If the front one should be the first upgrade step, then, I think I will consider Ected or Eaton lockers, but for the rear Dana44 alxe of the sahara, how about the locker from Detroit Locker, I saw they have one that works automatic. Here is the product link:http://www.quadratec.com/products/16100_316.htm

You might consider an Aussie locker in front and leaving the rear open.

That's unconventional thought, I realize.

For rock crawling (my passion), an Aussie in front with an open rear would suit me just fine if I could have only one axle locked; having a locked front end will often pull you up an over an obstacle that would otherwise prove impassable with an open front/locked rear (I know from experience because I started with a rear locker alone).

The Aussie Locker is relatively inexpensive, hell for stout, offers 100% positive lockup in 4WD and is totally invisible in 2WD.

And- if you were going to do a rear locker only, I'd push you toward a Detroit. Mechanical lockers are strong and work every time. No air, no wiring, no fuss.

3 weeks ago had my 09 Sahara regeared, while they had the axles open had them install a Auburn elect. locker put in rear. I was told by numerous off roaders that locking in the rear was best if I was only going to do 1 axle. I have not regretted yet, it has performed without flaw.

Here's an informative thread for you to browse.

That's an outstanding locker (the Eaton you linked to) and is precisely the one I would have in my JK if they offered it for the Rubi 44 rear (ARB is my only choice beyond my factory e-locker).

I recommend calling Northridge. He's going to be about the best price you're going to find on a locker (or just about anything else).
