Question regarding front bumper replacement and air bag issues.
I'd like to replace the front bumper on my 2011 JK Unlimited. How does this work with respect to air bags? Not really knowing how, or where, the air bag actuators work, I'm concerned that a replacement bumper will negatively affect (or negate entirely) my airbags. Are there bumpers that take this in to account and those that dont?
your bumper has absolutely nothing in it or attached to it that is directly connected to your air bag system. yes, it has 2 crush cans but, unless you hit them, they are essentially useless. your air bags are controlled by an accelerometer that is located under the passenger side front seat so, you will be just fine installing a new bumper.
Now what about the same question but in regards to the warranty? Will messing with the crush cans void that?? I know its generaly up to the dealership but has anyone had dealers void theirs because of a new front bumper without cans?
void what? your dealership can only void a warranty claim if they can make a connection between the modification you made and the failure of the part you are trying to warranty. granted, i have seen a dealership really stretch this but, i have a hard time believing that you wouldn't be able to get a broken head unit replaced due to a front bumper.

If I had come in for warranty coverage on a fog light wiring problem I'm sure he would have given me a different answer.
