When I had my 04 Cobra i too wanted to use a chip, but like you i was advised against it. The reason being, even though it put the computer back to factory settings when the dealer pugs in the computer has a new flash date and that is how they can tell the computer has be tampered with. Just my .02

I know its a longshot, but if you had used the Hypertech Prog as I did, and did have a problem with the engine and returned to factory, and they did say "we see a computer flash on this date....". Could you just say well yes it was flashed for the larger tires and that you didn't do any performance mods?

Wonder if that would work.

just want to throw in my 2 cents from past experience...

I've been programming my cars for years. My most recent is my 02 Mustang GT (425rwhp btw ) ...and I've had a lot of experience w/ professional tuners and mechanics. They've told me that there is almost no way that the dealer can prove that your tune created a mechanical engine failure. They'd have just about as good of a chance saying that your pistons fried because the bigger tires on your jeep were creating more stress.

Now if your actual engine computer became faulty that's a different story...then I believe I would be holding Hypertech responsible for a product that damaged my vehicle.

I personally have had great experience w/ handheld tuners and I think they're a great investment. I plan on adding the Hypertech Max as soon as I'm done w/ my lift and tires.
