Default question for users of hardtop quick release products

So i have been looking at hardtop quick release kits (langes, warrior products) and it seems that they all come with quick release "adapters" for the bolts in the back tub, but none of them provide a quick release alternative for the two screws on the top front of the top. They claim to be a tooless solution but it seems that you would still need to unscrew the top two with a tool. Am i missing something? Do people just leave out the front top screws permenantly? Not trying to sound lazy, Im just making sure that im not missing something. I cant see how they can claim that it provides a tooless solution to remove your hardtop if the top screws still have to be removed with a tool..

I'm not sure I understand what you're referring to. I have a 2dr, and with the quick release kit you've mentioned. Those, after removing the freedom top panels, are all that is needed to remove my top.

Maybe you have a 4door and it is fastened differently...

The 4 doors have a screw above the b-pillars.
When I bought my 4 door those screws were in the glove box. I drove for about 6 months without them not knowing what they were for.
With the front panels on there is no problem but there could be with them off and the screws not installed.

When I put my hard top on this year for the winter, I left those two screws out...

IT DROVE ME NUTS....

It rattled at highway speed and it sounded like there was a window cracked open all the time...

I put those back in and it was quite and stable...

I doubt there is any way to secure it with thumb type screws that would be functional or work with out getting in the way.

Agreed, to say its a tool less solution is a fallacy.

That is what I figured. Well I guess only having to unbolt 2 of 8 is still a big time saver. Maybe I can leave them off on weeks where I know I will be taking the top on and off alot but other than that I guess I should keep on. Rattling and leaky hard tops drive me nuts. Guess I will just keep a small t grip wrench in the glove box for those two.

Thank you for the replies! I just got my harkin hoist installed and today will be my first day topless...I couldn't be more excited!:-P
