I've got 3 kids and a wonderful wife, so safety has to always be the top priority for me. They've been out with me every time I've been off road, but I haven't lifted mine yet.

This is a really good thread, and I'm sure I'll be referencing it again when a lift and larger tires become a possibility.

I went with 2.5" lift and 35's, this was the most if felt comfortable with for my family. I never drove it stock, but it drives and handles great even at interstate speeds. This is also not so high the wife can't get our 2yr old in her carseat or get in herself. I agree with some earlier statements, once the mods are done correctly its about how you drive.

Check my sig for details. I most often have my 3 kids and sometimes my wife with me out wheeling and cruisin' the roads. I feel very comfortable with my setup and sleep soundly at night. My wife is thinking of getting her own JK but she insists that it be lifted with 35's (God bless her!). The only thing that she does not like about the Jeep is the rubi rails. She has made me promise her that I would get steps (slidders) to help everyone get in (this is permission to upgrade is it not?)

i have to admit im a little worried about the stopping power once the 35's are on. But from doing some reading it looksl ikt the weight diffrence between 33's and 35's is about 10 pounds if you go aluminum rims. So once again why not go with 35's.

My wife was hit from behind while driving our JK. It is lifted with 37's, the Honda hit the Drivers side tire and bounced her sideways into the next lane of traffic, she and the jeep walked away from the accident. The JK had to get a new tire, some new bearings and axle shafts but, for as hard as she says she was hit I am glad she was in the JK, I think the WK would have been toast without the solid frame. We have a 10 year old and a 1 year old who love to wheel, and I feel safer in the Jk than any of the short wheelbase jeeps that I have wheeled over the years. My wife wheels the jeep and loves it, the adjustable driver seat was a huge selling point for her as she can drive without blindspots.

My wife uses the Jeep as her daily driver. I've put a 2.5" BB and 1" BL and I am going to put 33's until she graduates to a new vehicle. THEN ITS ON!
I have a 2 yr. old and if she goes with us wheelin, I'm very cautios.
