Default questions about installing arms! Help!!!

I have front lower adj. Control arms that just came in!! And also a dual steering stabilizer shock! And I called 4-wheel parts to see how much they charge to instal them. and I'm looking around $200.00!! And I don't wanna spend that much for it, rather use it for mods! . . . So the question is, is it really that hard to instal front lower adj. Control arms?? And a dual SS??

Look in the DIY Front End Alignment writeup. (there is an index at the top of the write-ups area)

If you need more step-by-steps and pics, open any of the suspension installs and look for one with CA's. The brand doesn't matter, all the short arms will go in the same way.

It's easy. Just make sure the measurements are right.

One semi-important note is that the alignment write-up has you set the caster using an angle finder. These numbers are NOT what you will see when you have it professionally aligned on a rack. Angle finders measure straight lines, racks measure some type of an arc.

So while the write-up is an easy way to get your caster in the ballpark, don't take these numbers to your local shop and tell them to set it to 7-9 degrees

I just readjusted my front lower control arms this weekend. Since I had done it before during my install I had all my tools that I needed pulled out and ready. It took me between 30 and 45 minutes to do both arms and have it all back together with regular hand tools and a torque wrench. The difference between my readjustment and install would be about 5 to 10 minutes max unless you keep readjusting the arms.

The hardest part is finding out the right control arm length. You may take a guess at it and install the arms without tightening the nuts. Set the jeep down on its own weight and measure the angle per Way of Life's write up. If you aren't happy. Jack it up again and start over. It may take you 3 tries, but be happy with it before you torque it down (under the weight of the jeep, not jacked up). Btw unless you have a pit you are working from or you have a 10 inch lift, the torquing is kind of a PITA.

As I recall the lower the number 4, 5 degrees the flighter the steering. The higher the number 7, 8 degress the harder on your driveline.
