Quick Bump Stop Question
So I have a quick question about the rear bump. When my JK is sitting on the ground I have about 6 inches before the tire (35" KM2) hits the stock fender, and also about the same distance before the shock bottoms out ( I measured the shaft that was showing). I have about 7.5 inches between the pad on the axle and the bumpstop metal cup. So doing a little math that is 7.5 inches minus the 6 inches is 1.5 inches. So that leaves about a 2.0 inch bump stop spacer in the rear?
Am I oversimplifying this or is that it? It seems fairly straight forward or am I missing something???
Thanks

Your logic is solid, except you will flex your suspension not fully compress it. As the suspension flexes, the corner of the tire will rise much higher than a flat compression.
Yes, good point about the flexing. I would guess the because of where the control arms are located in relation to the rear axle when the axle flexes it will move rearward slightly as well, this could cause some issues with the tire contacting the rear of the fender well/ forward portion of the rear bumper. Thanks for the input.
I just installed a set of 3" lift BDS coil springs replacing the Rough Country Springs that where in there.
The previous owner installed the rough country lift but never added any bump stop spacers so I am trying to figure out the right ones. I added a 0.75 inch coil spacer in the front to help offset the weight of the heavy front bumper and winch. It looks real good, the jeep sits nice and level now. The front was sitting a little low with the rough country springs.
