Default Quick question (OME LT LIFT)

Kind of a funny question, but I have a bag here with what looks like two 1/2 x3,5" bolts/ washers and nuts that kame with the kit. I guess I should not reuse the original bolts, but where do they go

Hi Octogoogles,

There were nuts, bolts and washers that came with the front upper adjustable control arms.

If you cut off the passenger side upper control arm bolt during the install you might already have seen the need for one of them.

Let me know if this answers your question.

First of all I owe you a beer Jeff you have been great helping me out with this stuff!!

I figure that might be what they are for. I moved the front bolts to the back to use the bolts with the flange so I did not have to use two spanners to tighten. And then thought I would use grade 8 bolts on the front.

Looking at these bolts though they look too thick to fit the control arms :( Is there a difference in size front to back?

Hi Octogoogles,

I'm glad to help. I know that I had a lot of questions when I installed the kit. It is rewarding to be able to give something back.

I'm not sure that I am following what you wrote about in your message. Are you saying that you reused the OEM flagged nuts? And when you refer to front and back, are you refering to the bolt locations of the front adjustable control arms (the location at the axle and the location at the frame)? (I didn't think you purchased upper control arms for the rear, too; but, I wanted to make sure.)

Sorry for all the questions. I just want to give you the correct answer (if I know it).

I'm not sure that I can get you an answer on the bolts due to the fact that my kit is already installed; but, I'll see what I can find.

Take Care

Jeff

Jeff,
Yes I re used the flagged nuts and used the bolts from the front of the CA in the back. So I guess my question is does it matter if I use the bolts that came with the Currie arms for the front of the CA i.e closes to the front of the car? Or do I have to use the bolts that came with the kit in the back of the CA i.e closest to the rear.

Thanks again!!!

Hi Octogoogles,

I'm probably not the best person to answer this question. Actually, I'm not sure I can answer your question.

I have the Jeep Service Manual on CD; but, the level of detail is lacking. Specifically, I think you would need to know the bolt specs for the control arm attachment at the front axle, and the specs of the bolts provided by Currie for the attachment point at the frame. I don't know if these are published by Currie or Northgate.

I would recommend that you call David at Northridge tomorrow to inquire about the specs. I believe he will be back from Moab tomorrow.

I hope you understand... I want to make sure that any information I provide is completely accurate. If it isn't accurate, it would be a disservice to you. There's also the liability thing.

Sorry that I don't have enough knowledge to provide a strong opinion.

no worris Jeff,
I replaced the bolts with those that came with the arms and torqued to 125 f/lbs all the way around. I have not recieved my 35's yet so I did not do my toe in or annything, I just centered the axles etc until I get the final configuration. I drove the Jeep from work and home and it behaved ok for two or three miles before I got the dredded death wobble! Hopefully this is only an alignment issue and not my install that is horrible
