Quoted $400 to install a Truetrac?
There is one major offroad shop near where I live, that I have been recommend to go to on several occasions for my 2010 Wrangler Sport. I was looking into limited slips, and I called this place. They said it would be a little over 4 hours of labor, plus bearings and whatever else they need. This is for one in the rear. Does that sound stupid high to anyone else?

The average cost for a gear install is in the $1500-$2000 range. (gears + labor, out the door). It should be roughly the same labor cost for installing a full case locker/limited as it is for installing gears. And then add in the fact that the truetrac uses some very hard metal, and the installer may need to send it out to get it drilled.
Your quote is in the ballpark for the installation of a single truetrac, and may even be low depending on whether he is paying another shop to drill it.

Sounds about right.
I paid just under $900 for a True trac parts and labor. Included Timken bearings as well.
If you planning on re-gearing might as well do them both at the same time, labor cost is the same.

Ok good to know. I thought I read on another forum that installs were in the $250 range. I've read so much, I might be getting mixed up with the Aussie locker install prices. Would the Auburn Gear LSD cost about the same? I know that one uses a clutch pack, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference in installation, but I might as well ask. If they are about the same, then I will probably just wait and save up for an ected.

Lunchbox lockers fit inside the stock carrier, so the gears don't have to be set up again. Lots of people install these in their driveways in a few hours.
If you want a limited, stick with the truetrac.

Here is a decent locker over-view:

I think that the d44 e-locker being upgraded to a 4-pin design is the only update since this was made.
