Default Rack Height

Hi folks,

I'm in the market for a rack (08 Rubicon 4dr) but I have space issues in my garage. With the 2.5" lift and my 35" tires I only have about 5" of clearance through my garage door. So the question is, which rack is the shortest and has the lowest profile?

Thanks!

I'm interested in this information also. I was thinking about a MBRP Off-Camber roof rack system but the cargo basket would have to be removed to get into the garage.

Well, I went out and measured my Wild Boar rack for you.... Every Jeep is going to measure out a little differently due to different lifts, different tires, etc..., so I just measured from the highest point on the hard top (the tops of the middle directional ridges) to the highest point on the rack using a straight edge across the top bars of the rack. The highest point of the rack measured out to be 6" over the highest point of the hard top. To run this rack you would probably want 7" of clearance over your hardtop...6.5" at the very least and that would be a squeeze. I don't know what the shortest rack would be....but I measured mine just to give you an example.

You make what to look at the Gobi stealth low profile rack. I love mine and it seems lower than other brands and is build well and works great. Good luck.

Could you measure how far it sticks above the hard top? Just curious. Thanks!
