Default Rack Lights

Just purchased a set of racks for the Jeep. Interesting in adding some LED lighting for the sides and back it have when camping. I have no idea how i would run the wires for this. Any ideas?

Are you opposed to drilling holes in the rack to feed wire through?

If you're not familiar with hooking up electrical stuff, you may want to find someone who does to help you. It's going to be difficult to try to explain wiring technique over this forum. I'm assuming you're concerned how to hookup to switches and relays correct? Can you give more detail of exactly what help you need?

It would be helpful to know specifics of the rack. I have an MBRP rack with the optional front extension. I drilled a hole in the curved sheetmetal plate just driver's side of the hood cowel and put a rubber grommet in there. The rack tubing comes to an end there and has a plastic cap in it. Drilled hole in plastic cap and put another rubber grommet. Ran wires from the sPOD, through the fender hole, through the plastic plug, and from there it's hidden. Ran to overhead lights and out existing holes (for such purposes) on the rack--but could have drilled more holes and added more grommets.

A little about the wiring: I buy wiring materials from a local supplier, but they do sell online. I took the wiring and use heat shrink to dress up the ends of the loom. I also use WeatherPak connectors at each light assembly--make removal to work on one easy. There is also a WeatherPak at the fender to rack loom so that if I remove the rack, I can just leave the pigtail wiring hanging out (it's hidden by a bracket mounted there for doors-off mirror mounting). It's dark out right now, but here are a few pictures that may help you get a better idea.

I have a busy Saturday, but can add a good picture of the fender to rack transition, or whatever else you might need. To ensure I don't miss a post in this thread, message me and I'll get on it by Sunday. :-)

And here is where I buy wiring and loom and such. They sell short lengths retail--contact them for more info ...

Hah, a brief lull in the action--got the work at my church done more quickly than I anticipated, so washed Jeep and shot a couple more pics of my wiring ...

At the light bar ...

At the interface between the cowel and the overhead rack ...

Again, the bracket that you see to the right of the cowel is for mounting a TJ mirror to my Jeep when running doors off. I leave the bracket in place to protect the nutserts holding it from spinning out (had a problem with that in the past).
