[QUOTE=4LO;684768]No offense to Sgt. Evil, since I don't know how many tires he has tested.
But I've had almost all of the popular tires out there, and the Radial Claws were the WORST tires I've ever had. I had 35's in MN where a wet cold snowy environment is very common. These tires absolutely suck on off-camber terrain, unless you have dry firm rock. I also had 46" BIAS CLAWS on one of my rigs and loved them in all terrains. Completely different from the radial.
On my new JK, In Colorado terrain, I've tried the 35" BFG KM2, the 35" MTZ, and am currently running a 37" Pro Comp Xtreme Mud Terrain. The Pro Comp is my 1st choice BY FAR, MTZ 2nd, and the BFG KM2 3rd. I strongly suggest that you stay away from the Radial Claw, and go with the MTZ or Pro Comp XMT. I hope this helps. If you want further advise, PM me. I have pics of all tires on all rims, on all rigs... Cheers!

Well I have tested too many to name.....From Nitto's to BFG's to DC.

But as you stated, Look at the climate and what your using them for...... So I dont know what experience you have with tires and what you use them for.... but it appears to be in a much colder weter and muddier enviroment, I live in SOCal, where its 125 in the summer and 60-70 in the winter, the heart of the desert. I dont drive in snow, it and it rains less than an inch were I live, maybe a little over but less than an inch and half a year.... So in the rocks, desert dirt and sand, I find these tires to work very well.

But yes, so do the BFG's, PRo-Comp XTreme, Nitto Mud Grapplers and the MTZ are good too. I just prefer the Claws right now.
he also did not ask about all of these other tires.... So between the two he asked about and what I use the tire for, I choose the Claw....

Default MTZs

I've driven MTZs in snow, mud, rock, sand and they have never let me down. Oh yeah, they are good on dry pavement too.

Hey,

I just put 33x12.5R17 MTZ's on my Sahara.

They look great, ride great, are surprisingly quiet....and I believe there is a rebate program out right now for specific sizes.

Here are my MTZ's to help you decide.

Talking

The MTZ's are better if its wet, etc...and, they have tougher sidewalls, essentially the same construction (Same parent company...) as General's AT2's, Cooper STT's, ProComp Extremes, etc.

The claws suck* (*As compared to available competition) in other than dry conditions or actual MUD, where they are pretty good in the forward direction, but not in reverse. Some people mount one end forward, and the other end backwards, so that they have at least ONE end facing the right way going in forward AND reverse, etc.

If you like the MTZ's, look at the Cooper STT's too, sometimes the price points are more in favor of one vs the other, and they are essentially the same tire (The other above examples have similar carcass construction, but different rubber compounding and tread characteristics, etc.)

Cooper STT MTZ

Hope that helps!

MTZ's work well in ALL CONDITIONS. Radal Claws only work well in DRY CONDITIONS. I have tested both tires in all conditions, so this is real data.
Sorry to have brought up other tires. I'm just trying to help.
I agree, MTZ's are a good all around tire and work better in the mud and rain. And of course handle well in the dirt and rocks, so they are probably the better choice for him.
