Default RC 2.2 Shocks with Daystar 1.75/.75" BB Kit - Works?

So, I have a RCX 2.5" spring lift with the 2.2 shocks sitting in my basement. I don't want to install this 'big' of lift while only having the Rubicon BFG MTs (32s) for fear it may look silly and I really just don't need that much lift until later when I get bigger meats - probably get some 305/70/17 or something ("34s") similar.

So, for the meantime I bought a set of 1 3/4" daystar spacers for the front and 3/4" daystar spacers for the rear. Looking for that 1" lift look while leveling out the jeep... and should look good with stock size MTs.

However, I thought while i was doing the labor I might as well install the 2.2 rough country shocks now and it will save me some time when I do install the RC springs in the future. Also, I figure they may be more appropriate for the application than stock shocks as I think they have extended bump stops built into the shock, etc. This should work correct?

Obviously it's your call, but if I was going to do anything at all I would install the spring lift. I think stock 32s would look fine with the 2.5" lift. I'm considering this myself.

I did the 2.5" lift with my stock 32's and got nothing but compliments when I took it to my construction job.

Do the lift

There's an entire thread about 2.5" lifts with stock 32's, with plenty of pics. The consensus was, and I agree, that it looks pretty darn good, and not silly at all. I plan on doing the same, with some spacers to widen the stance a bit.

Thanks for the input guys. I just did the daystar lift - 1 3/4 front, 3/4 rear - with my RC shocks for now... I must say I'm sure the RCX lift (full 2.5") would like fine with Rubi BFG MTs since it would only be an extra 3/4" up front and another 1" or so in the rear. But ah well, I wanted it to "grow up slowly" and I'll throw in the RCX 2.5" springs when I get my 305/70/17s. Now that the shocks and my quick discos are on it should only take me 1 1/2 hour probably.

Anyway, first impressions of the daystar with new shocks is that it seems to be the perfect boost for a JK with 32s for those worrying a full 2.5" lift might look odd. I was on the fence and I'm sure I would have liked either but I am happy with this.

It is level as well - I measured at the center of the wheel to the bottom of fender and both are right around 37 1/2".

I did not have to adjust my draglink for the steering so I must have kept things pretty well aligned while I did my work.

Obviously not everyone is going to do new shocks with this lift but after (only) a 5 mile test cruise I really like how it rides with the new boost and shocks. It does seem a little bit more 'stiff' or firm, but I actually like it and think thats how a JEEP should feel. Not all cushy and soft like a minivan as it did before.

Definitely recommend this for those looking for small boost for 32s and not wanting to go to a full 2.5" lift. I'll post some pics up tomorrow...
