Default RC decision

08 JK Rubicon 2 door auto and trying to decide on which RC lift to get. Would like a less firm ride than the stock rubicon (high pressure gas shocks). Considering the 1 3/4" with hydro 8000 or nitro 9000 shocks with extra 3/4" spacer for the front or the 2.5" with 2.2 shocks. Any input would be appreciated.

Just go ahead with the 2.5'' with 2.2 Shocks....Dont know if your looking at the BB 2.5 or Coil 2.5?? I have the Coil 2.5 w/ 2.2 shocks and I love it, ppl get ride in my JK say "damn this thing rides good for a lifted Jeep"....For the money, you cant beat it, also customer service is top notch also!!

On a budget: Get the Rough Country 2.5" BB w/shocks

Better: RC 2.5" coilsw/shocks. The coil lift is actually easier to intall believe it or not!

My X came from the factory with the Rubi suspension. I have the RC 2.5" progressive rate coils with their 2.2 shocks. Rides much better on and off road. The RC kit also levels out your JK, no more nose dive.

I have to agree with qf4phlyer, progressive rate springs are a softer ride than stock rubi suspension. Some have said that it is harsher than the non-rubi HD stock suspension. I would spend the extra coin and get the suspension lift over the BB. Installed a BB on my TJ and the suspension lift on JK. Much easier install on the JK.

My Sahara unlimited rides harsher with the RC2.5 coil and 2.2 shocks over the tar snakes and small cracks at slow speeds, but is much nicer on the highway over bumps and potholes at higher speeds.

Mine is a 2-door X... I've had a 2.5" RC BB with Rubicon shocks and extensions, and it rode a little stiff but was more than tolerable..actually better than the X shocks I had in some situations. Just the other day, I installed the RC 2.5" Coil Lift with the 2.2 Shocks...not a huge difference in the ride, if anything I'd say it's a little softer...I like it, and would recommend it.

I think comparing the RC with 2.2 shocks to an X with stock (non-HD) suspension, the RC may be a little more stiff.....but comparing the Rubicon suspension to the RC 2.2 shocks, it's about the same so I don't think you'll regret it.

Thats cause you don't have to deal with the coil spacers or shock adapters. But I agree, the 2.5" is an awesome BB.
