Default RCV Boot Placement

Just installed my PR 44U and was surprised to see that there was such a gap between the Orange CV boot and the housing edge. I was under the impression that the Orange boot sealed the tube from outside elements in addition to protecting the CV joint.

Thoughts, or is this just the way it is and the inner seals hold everything out...

Pics? Inner seal holds everything out but you should have bought outer axle seals. There has to be a small gap because the axle spins where the housing doesn't. You don't have to buy the expensive RCV, the cheaper Rugged Ridge seals work fine.

Be sure to specify you have a pr44. I have one also and most outer seals wont work. My girlfriend win a set from Northridge4x4 and i was told they don't work with the prorock housing.

I've been wondering about the same thing as the rubi axle I swapped in my rig has RCV shafts. I would think it would be a good idea to keep crud out of the axle tube, but perhaps it isn't really an issue.

The PR44 "Unlimited" housing with 3"O.D. With 1/2" I.D. wall tubes will work with general axle seals from what I have heard due to the I.D. Being the same as a stock axle. The regular PR44 housing with 3" tubes and 1/4" I.D. Will not work.

This can't the an issue or it would have been corrected by the manufacturer....surely.

PR44- "Unlimited" Housing has castor correction
PR44- come with 3" DIA axle tubes with either 1/2" or 5/16th" Wall thickness
Standard factory D44 front axle is 2.5" OD x 1/4" wall thickness
