I changed from 4.10s to 4.88s with a manual and 35s. I absolutely hated the 4.10s and this made a huge difference. Just be ready to use higher gears even arouind town. But the get up and go are night and day different.

Yes I did and it made a big difference. So big my wife immediately noticed it. While it's nice to have the speedo and odo reading correctly it brings the shift points back to stock. I got the Hypertech speedo calibrator for 199 from David and recommend it. Supposedly you can upgrade it to the Max Energy or whatever they call it. I didn't go that way as I thought I might go with a UniChip (I didn't). But I can tell you that gears are where it's at on a JK. Monry well spent.

what type of places did you fellas get to change your gears? theres really only one 4x4 shop in the new orleans area and their prices are as high as giraffe nuts. there are of course alot of transmission shops, but who to trust with your brand new vehicle? and then there are the jeep dealerships....

I don't think I'd trust a Jeep dealership to do it if they did the labor for free! Transmission shops aren't what you want. Look for driveline shops. Any dealer with half a brains subs his diff work out to the local driveline shop anyway. Driveline shops do semi's and such and those guys expect things to last hundreds of thousands of miles. Think a bit beyond your local area; what's a 3 or 4 hour drive anyway? A 4WD shop that does lots of gears is best.
