I went to 37's and would like to retain stock gearing as it was cherry for me.
3.73 will put me back at my happy point. MAYBE 4:10 but i doubt it.
I don't want to be more than 2000-2100 at 65 or so..
I have read for hours about this... So far i think I've concluded.... the rear 44 carrier is a go for the 3.21 to 3.73 swap.
The front dana 30HP requires a carrier for this...? Some say 3.73 up is break for the D30 I have no idea at this point

Stuck to the top of this modified area are some faqs. Scroll down to the drivetrain area for a set of rpm charts for each engine/trans combo. Use actual measured tire height, not mfg spec. There are about a thousand 'what gears should i get' threads, plenty of reading material for opinions.
Yes, the d30 will need a new carrier to go from 3.21 to anything numerically higher. The rear d44 does not. I have seen the carriers on northridge4x4's website, but I am sure that any of the other site vendors can hook you up. Should be around $80ish. Or if you are looking to add traction, this might be a good time to look into it - while the diffs are already torn apart.
Just saw your profile. A 3.8 on 37's, and you want to waste the money going from 3.21 to 3.73????? Might I suggest a little more research.

OK great!! thank you much!
I actually have a cummins, So my power band is very limited. That the calling for the strange gearing Prime power for me is 1300-2600 really.. Im full boost at 1300 rpm so she pulls like a train.

Then let me be the first to say - you suck!! I'd love to have a cummins instead of my pos 3.8.
And another option you might look at is just an axle swap from any of the many, many people that are upgrading axles. Shouldn't be hard to find a cheap 30/44 combo with stock 3.73's. Or you could even look for a set of take-offs from a rubicon, all of the older ones were 4.10, the newer years have a choice of eitehr 3.73 or 4.10. That would also get you a front d44 and e-lockers at both ends. More expensive, but worth looking around anyway

I've got some used rear 3.73s if you are interested. I have front too but they were from a rubicon so that won't work with your setup.
PM me if you want the rear set.
