Default The real Story on CAI

The manufacture says their product is great of course. Does anyone really know if it is worth installing the Airaid cold air kit? I live at 8500 feet and my JK 4-door with 3:73 gears is not too exciting up here as far as power goes. So I am looking for results, real results. I like my JK but the manufacture always seem to play the same game by starting out with a minium HP only to increase it the next model year. I will be disappointed if they do this. I know that there are always gears but wish to keep some highway mileage this time.

i can definitely feel the difference based on "Butt" dyno. But as far as "REAL" gain, i doubt it's much at all.....but every little thing helps

I feel it gives it that extra "Jump" that the JK really lacks..

It makes enough difference to give a 1-2mpg gain. That said, obviously your foot would have to be a little less in it when gaining mileage. So therefore it makes just that much more horsepower, whatever that number is.

Default I'm Ready for the Airaid

Ok, the replies sold me. Now where is the best place to spend my money to purchase the Airaid CAI?

OMFG! Do a search before you make up your mind! There are 100's of posts on the subject, not all so flattering!

Placebo effect.

I've used the butt dyno in the past but would like to see a real dyno on this one . I'm guessing 2-4 HP tops, without upgrading the exhaust (manifold on back).

Thought I would post this from over the LX forums they did a comparison with Stock filter and Box, Volant CAI, Airraid 360, Mopar CAI & K&N CAI and drop-in on the 5.7L Hemi...alittle different results than you would think!!!

STOCK BOX & STOCK FILTER TOPS the HP vs all the rechargeable filters & CAI's listed above

Also, STOCK BOX & STOCK FILTER finished tops in the 1/4 mile and top speed vs a Mopar CAI system.
Here is a link....if you are interested.

http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=14140

the Excel table with have the HP & torque difference between CAI's and the time slips are just for the stock box and Mopar CAI.

Just proves that just a CAI or Rechargeable filter = drop in performance (HP).

If you want to see gains you will have to add a performance chip and free flow exhaust to compensate for the increased air flow.

There is a write up on this with dyno results and I think it was like 12 to 14 hp gain. I did not expect much but really felt a big difference with the Airiad CAI. Not so much with the muffler and the Jett II chip. I would just do the CAI and leave it at that.

The TJ 4.0l is only squeezing out 2 or 3 hp with a CAI, but this little V6 wakes up with it installed.

Geez dude, lighten up.

"Forums" are for discussions. Let us discuss and let him ask questions. If everyone simply did a search to answer every question, there would not be much of a forum now would there?

If you don't want to answer questions you think should be searched, then don't.
