Default real tire height

Used the tire calculator on 1010 tire to help me compare some tires. Wanted something about 34's and settled on 305/70/17 Terra Grapplers on 9" XD Hoss rims. Calculator showed 33.81". Picked them up last night-Had Nitto stickers calling them 34/12.50/17? Measured them off Jeep at 33.5 with 30 psi. Just put them on tonight-Barely 33's with weight on them. Had 33/12.50/15 duratracs before-they were 31.5 at 30 psi. So is it safe to assume what you get will be at least an inch smaller than what is claimed height?

Variables include individual manufacture, load rating, wheel width, pressure, weight of vehicle, etc. The tires I just put on were claimed to be 34.7" tall. On my rig at road pressure on the ground they measure 34".

Pretty much. Ive yet to find a true to size tire. They say Intercos run true to size, but not the Iroks I owned. They were much shorter than the 36" advertised height.

a few and curious.. I would guess tire size is measured as empty weight? Meaning the tire is measured before a load is put on it? You could have 35 inch tires and then add ~2-300lbs and the tires "squat", "take" the load, so they wont measure a true 35". Maybe with an empty load they measure true(advertised) height. Just a thought.
