I've seen other styles of taillight guards as well.

The better question is "Who has actually knocked off a taillight or damaged one and would a guard have protected it?"

lol, they're better than some I've seen, they'd be illegal in VA though as they reduce the amount of surface area of the light.

Thats a great point. I think they look better than the typical birdcage type. Obviously, everybody does not agree.

Got em on mine as part of package (Mopar) and like the look, but face it there not going to protect against much. (not the one's in the pic, those be butt ugly!)

Looks like they would cause more damage if something hit them than if they weren't there. I can see these pushing in the body instead of the light shattering. I wonder if they cost close to the amount of the light they are replacing also. I too find them ugly. Looks hummer mall krawler -esque.

I would get recessed LEDs if I was concerned with the lights getting bashed off.

uh yeah, just not my cup of tea either. $100 could do more purposeful things to my jeep.
