Default Rear Axle Angle

Just wondering if anyone knows what the rear axle angle SHOULD BE on a 4-Door JK with 4" Lift? Thanks in advance

if you are refering to what the pinion angle should be, if you are running a factory driveshaft, you just need to leave it where it was or in line with the output shaft on the t-case. although, being that the factory shaft has CV joints, you can have it up in line with the driveshaft and it won't be a problem. if you have a new rear double cardin u-joint style shaft, your pinion NEEDS TO BE set in line with the shaft.

Hi Wayoflife

The problem is I didnt read your write-up of the 3" FT lift install before doing mine, which I must say I hope FT would incorporate you and your wifes instruction in their kit.

My diff seems to have rotated forward at the bottom rear. My coil mounts on the axle are not vertical, but actually rotated back a few degrees. I set my arms to the stock length (which you didn't) because FT said so. You also mention using secondary jack or JK scissor to hold the axle back (They dont mention this).... HAHA

Now I'm in the process of starting all over (USING YOUR INSTALLATION GUIDE), but mine is the 4" Ultimate FT. Should I still use your arm lengths?

Another thing, I did take mine in for a alignment (wont do again because you wrote some other awesome write-ups) but glad I did. I found out my camber is actually off. The suggest an adjustable knuckle system, but never heard of it... Your thoughts???

Thanks Again....

if you are still running a factory rear drive shaft, this will be fine. if you have an aftermarket shaft, this is totally normal and your pinion angle should be in line with the drive shaft - in other words, your axle would be rotated back and your spring perches tilted as well.

yes, not enough will have changed between a 3" and 4" lift to warrant anything else.

you can get off set ball joints for your knuckles but i would recommend that you beef up your C's with the off road evolution C2 gussests first.

Are there any JK off set ball joints for the knuckles available in the market? I was waiting to do that a long time ago?

the knuckles on the JK are more or less the same as the TJ before and i'm almost 100% sure that you can use offset ball joints for it on the JK. at least, that's what i intend to try anyway
