Default Rear bumper with jerry can - which type?

Hello!

I am starting to look for a rear bumper with tire and jerry cans carrier. Jerry cans will be the traditional model.

One thing I am struggling with is the cans' position.

I personally like the designs that mount the cans between the spare and the Jeep's body. They seem to protect the cans better in case of a rear impact and also do not seem to take as much rear view as the other types.

The other types I see mount the cans beside the spare and give me the impression of higher exposure to rear impacts.

I do not mind about "departure angles" since my offroad style is more cross country without any radical rock crawling. Therefore, the spare tire mounted more to the back do not bother me.

I would appreciate your experiences, photos and advices on how to choose the type, design or brand.

I currently have a LoD full-width front bumper and do not mind having a different design in the back. I like my LoD but only saw the side-mounted can carrier from them.

Thanks much in advance.

Sooo....vendors welcome to chime in also!

The only way to get what I've been thinking of is using an OR-FAB carrier and whatever bumper I pick? I am a bit reluctant of this setup because of all the drilling on the body and conflicting reliability reports.

I don't run one with the them, but I know the rock hard rear bumper can attach Jerry cans. Here's just the bumper

I think the Body Armour bumper is the only one that will do what you want.

I LOVE my rockhard 4x4 rear bumper with tire swing. It's pricy, but suuuuuuper stout!! It's got my vote.

I have the OR Fab. No clearance issues so far in the rocks. It was kind of a pain to install.

Thanks!

I checked the suggested brands and the only one I saw that holds the cans between the spare and the Jeep body is OR-Fab. All others seem to only have the option to mount them either on the side or behind the spare.

Rotopax is not an option at this time. Could not see the advantage of that type so I am planning to stick with the NATO style cans.

Is there a reason only one manufacturer makes the carriers as OR-Fab does? That way of securing the cans seems to offer more protection to them as well as keeping the Jeep more stable (cans mounted lower and closer to the body's axis).

I assume everyone is happy with their OR-Fab holder? I may end-up that route and then buy a separate rear bumper.
