Default rear end "clunk"

When I back out of the driveway and switch from reverse to drive, I get one noticeable "clunk" as soon as I hit the gas. If I put it in drive and let it roll on its own for several feet and gently accelerate I don't hear it. The only time I hear this is going from reverse to drive and accelerating. It is coming from my rear end area. I have an 09 with a 2.5 OME lift with adjustable trac bars. Any ideas where to start looking?

Default rearend noise

Have same lift on my jk. Maybe same issue but mine isn't exclusive to changing gears. Makes a clacking noise whenever accellerating from stop. Heard everything from failing ujoints to rubbing on the tranny. Ive looked and saw nothing weird. She goes in the shop Thursday and I'll pass on the story as soon as I hear it from the old horse's mouth.

I had a similar sound after I replaced my rear UCAs. Swiched all the bolts out to 9/16" and haven't had the problem since. Don't know if it's the same problem you have, but it's a thought.

Since the track bar is the part you changed I would start by checking the torque on the bolts there.

Project-JK.com - Jeep JK Wrangler Resource » Jeep JK Wrangler Torque Settings
You may want to check your rear pass side coil spring and make sure its not contacting the adj track bar/jamnut area on the JKS TB. This tends to happen from spring bow on lifts without both sets of CA's in the rear and/or some type of correction wedge or rotated spring perch.

plop her on the ground and torque to 125ft/lb. on both ends. also check the coils like MK said. Sounds like where I would start at least.

I had the same problem in the front end after a RK 2.5. It turned out to be LCAs slipping. Be sure all your control arms are tightened down.

well its not the cvjoint. just had it replaced ...UNDER WARRANTY...by my mechanic. I think chyrsler will cover it if you don't tell them about any mods. BAH!

But there is still a small click on accellerating that lingers on. Will try the rear trackbars.
