Default Rear Main Seal repair...while I'm in there torque converter swap?

Hi,

I have a pretty nasty rear main seal leak that I will be repairing.

While I'm doing that I though about swapping out the torque converter to the ATS HD torque converter ( ATS HD Torque Converter 03-12 Jeep 42RLE )

Has anyone used one of these. I couldn't find anything in a search.

Also I was wondering if there is a rear main seal repair write up? Again couldn't find one with several search variations. If there is one, I'd like to read it. If not I'll do one when I fix mine.

Mike

Rear main seals went out at about 100k miles with YJs, TJs and XJs.

It is very uncommon for a rear main seal to go out in a JK. Could your oil leak come from somewhere else? Maybe a valve cover gasket or somewhere else?

I've never heard of a torque converter upgrade for a 42RLE. The tranny gearing sucks, but I haven't heard of failures behind either the 4.0L or the 3.8L.
