Default Rear tire carrier

Looking for a spare tire carrier option. I like the AEV carrier that works with the stock bumper, just hate the price. Anyone have a cheaper alternative? I'm worried the heavy Trail Grappler is going to tear up my tailgate eventually. Thanks in advance.

Go with the Teraflex tire carrier. Installed mine a couple of weeks ago and I'm glad I waited for it. I have 35's TG on stock wheels. No rattles or noises and the carrier is stout as hell. I was gonna get the AEV tire/bumper combo but went this route instead cause I didn't want to add more weight.

Thanks for the advice. The one that you installed, is it the one that attached to the stock tailgate hinges?

It replaces the hinges.

I couldn't agree more with every word. ^^^

I went this route since I have no desire at the moment of changing the rear bumper, at least until I bang it up a bit Plus I wanted a carrier that works with the door. I have 315/75/16 duratracs and the hinge works perfect with it. If you get it and you have 35's or bigger, get the slim relocation disc. It mounts onto the stock tire carrier and raises the mounting platform of the wheel higher so it doesn't rub the bumper and it;s cheaper than buying the adjustable mount. I'm gonna run it this way until my carrier breaks or something bad happens. 3 months and counting and not one problem

Check out my install thread. It could not have been any easier to put on and is STRONG as hell.

I love my AEV rear bumper and tire carrier. Works great. However as the OP said he is looking for something less expensive therefore I would agree with Hanzo regarding the TF tire carrier.

Default AEV Tire carrier

You can just go with the aev carrier on the factory bumper. Also with the aev tire carrier all the weight is on the frame yet it is still integrated with the door so they it open and close as one. Search aev tire carrier with factory bumper.
