Default rear trackbar bracket hitting bumpstop

Has anyone have their Rear Trackbar bracket start hitting the rear bumpstop?
I have the teraflex 2.5 bracket.

This may be a stupid question but, are the rear bumpstops installed with the overhang towards the front or back of the vehicle? They should have the "overhang" towards the front.

Good question, but yes the overhang is to the front. It's been fine with no issues until I recently installed rear upper and lower control arms to realign my rear pinion angle and found afterwards I need spring relocate brackets and adj end links "which I currently have now, to install this weekend"

i see that you have adjustable control arms. is it safe to assume you have these in the rear as well? if so, sounds like you just have them set incorrectly - most likely too long.

I have the rear bottoms set as short as possible and just adjusted uppers to align pinion angle, which I need to readjust more yet.

well, i see that you only have a 2.5" lift and really, at that height, the lower control arms shouldn't be set any longer than stock or very close to it. could be that even at the shorttest setting, they are still too long.

is it safe to assume that just the track bar bolt is making contact with the pad? if so, try reversing it so that the threads point out toward the back of your jeep. that should help.

Yeah I was thinking of doing that also. I really like to lengthen my rear lowers a little though to push my axle back a little more to increase clearance. I have cut pinch seams but seem still a little close.
If it helps I installed the unlimited springs and got close to 3.5 after I installed my bumpers and winch. So I was thinking I might need more of a 3 inch or 3.5 setup

even at 4" of lift, your lower control arms should only be about 1/4" longer than stock. we are essentially talking about the hypotenuse of a triangle and just because you go taller doesn't necessarily mean that the length of your control arms should be a lot longer to accomodate it. you also need to remember that your axle travels in an arc and as it moves up, it should move away from the pinch seam a bit. if you are still making contact with it, you need to trim more of it off - not move your axle back more. move it back too much and you rear track bar will start making contact with your coils.

you know this for a fact? i have installed unlimited springs and saw very little if any additional lift even on a 2-door. 3.5" sounds like a ton of extra lift especially since you have bumpers and a winch installed. if i could guess, your jeep is really sitting a lot closer to 2.5"-3" at most and, this is why you are seeing the problems that you are.

Ok I will try flipping the bolt to other position and see make sure my lower control arms are the shortest position or not more 1/4 inch lengthen. Thanks for the info and I will try it this weekend.

Default Exactly the same problem (minor problem though) !

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem like you and has all my control arms changed for TF adjustable once as well. I have also the TF 2.5" Coil lift installed.

Indeed my rear trackbar extension bracket (the bolt) used to hit my bottom stop and gave some awkward noises.

As suggested already I shortened my control arms as much as possible and since then the bolt is not hitting the axle bracket anymore. However I am just back from a weeks worth of jungle driving and my car was pretty well loaded. I was constantly bottoming out (how annoying) and the noise was back as well. This time the extension bracket 'bolt' was hitting my shock bracket on the chassis. No major damage but very noisy. Whit my 2010 JK 4dr getting lighter the noise disappeared (knew what it was anyway)

I have just emailed TF to notify them of the issue and indeed it is to do with the length of our control arms, maybe going for fully adjustable control arms with a 2.5" lift was over the top. I am planning to go for 4" coils which should prevent bottoming out.

Also......not sure if you have the TF heavy duty front trackbar as well, to centre my axle with my 2.5" coil lift I had to shorten the track bar by 1/2 inch, I basically cut 1/2 inch of one side as well as the sleeve, since then the front axle is correctly spaced and I haven't had any issues.

Are you planning to increase the lift?

best regards,

Mark
