Default Rear trackbar bracket weld at axle broke

Wheeling out in the Mojave today and got home and the rear trackbar bracket
with the trackbar still on was hanging on the floor. Lucky I got home.
I had the Skyjacker upper brace on which caused the stress at the weld points.
So, now I need opinions on what to do.
Sure it would not be covered under warranty because of Skyjacker extension.
The welds are evenly broken off, not through the axle housing.
I would like to get it re-welded then add either the Teraflex brace or the JKS
brace which is welded on.
Opinions please......thanks.

OMG... I'm sorry to hear...

But haven't you been reading the horror stories about this?? DO NOT use the axle brackets found in some lift kits. Use a frame mount or else get an adjustable track bar.

This has happened to lots who have used the skyjUNKer bracket. It would not brake if you had used an adjustable trackbar on the stock mount. It only fails if there is extra leverage on there from a kit bracket on the axle side.

Get the mount welded by a pro and have them add metal to make it stronger. Gusett the thing and put some quarter inch plate and you will be fine.

By the way a gusett is stiffeners or brackets added to members that intersect at roughly right angles

the same happened to me......but mine happend on a roadtip at 2am....there are various products to beef up the track bars.....sj sent me this for free...but it aint free anymore.......when i got the lift they didn't offer these parts yet now they are standard....if you havent beefed up the front it will soon to follow.......that one stinks if it breaks..........when the rear breaks it just makes the tail wiggle abit........weld it and beef up the bracket with your choice of add on parts...

Thanks for the information. And, yes, my broken one looks like the 2 top pictures above.
I knew the SJ brace was weak, and am getting the 3" Full Flex Teraflex put on
next Tuesday at 4wheelparts. With two adjustable TB's.
Will get the extra metal added and welded, as stated above, to beef it up.
Just thought I could have fun today without any problems.
Now need to worry about the front, which when it breaks, the JK can not be driven.
At least with the rear broken, it can be driven slowly with just a little wobble.
Sure appreciate any more opinions. Thanks

If you get adj. trackbars, no need to do welding, use the factory mounts. Don't use the axle mounts with your new adj. trackbars.

i think i know what you are saying but just to clarify...

i believe 99% of the time, an adjustable with the stock mount locations (both axle and frame) will be fine, but i know i've seen a post on here where one member used stock mounts with an adjustable and still had a problem - it's just not a great design overall. as julietkilo said, put the factory mount back on and reinforce it. an experienced welder will know how to reinforce it, or you can take the guess work out and get the jks brace for $50. i used the jks brace before mine broke (i also had the skyjacker relocation bracket and went with an adjustable and the jks bracket).

jks also makes one for the front - but you might want to search some of the posts on it. there is one member that put it on and while i think he is happy with it overall, slight modifications were necessary.

Weld it up with gussetting.

The idea with the brackets that come with the lift kits are to make the bar close to horizontal again. As the axle sweeps through it's travel the track bar rotates through it's arc and the axle shifts right to left (when viewed from the back). The steeper the bar is in it's rest position, the larger the shift left to right will be. A bracket should be used even when an adjustable track bar is used.

While that is the general concencus with the track bar I have been running 4 inches of lift with just the track bars front and rear and have no issues with handling, bumpsteer (front), etc. As long as your axle is centered you are good to go.
