Default Rear wraparound or short bumper?

Hey everyone,

I've been looking at rear bumpers and am undecided wether to go full wraparound with the rear corners protected or short which just covers the width of the rear. I am kinda leaning towards the full wrap style just to have the corners protected then won't really have to worry about putting on corner guards. I eventually wanna put some flat fenders on too. Anyone have either style of the above bumper with flat flares and wish they went with somethin else? Pictures? Btw,I really like the LOD bumpers.

Thanks

Question Pocket Flares/Full Bumper vs. Flat Flares/Stubby Bumper??

I have the similar question...do I go with the Bushwacker Pocket Flares & a set of full length bumpers or go with the flat flares & the stubby bummpers. Would love pictures if you have a combo that works. I am planning lifting with 3" and putting 35's on my 2010 JK to give you some context. Thanks

I went with a Shrockworks mid-width front bumper, but opted for their full-width rear bumper primarily because when backing, it's more likely that the back end of the Jeep makes contact with something I didn't see. I wanted the extra protection there, despite the departure angle penalty.

I'm not certain about with flat fenders, however--but, then, I think the best looking fenders offered for the JK are stock.

I like the short bumper with the flat flares, looks nice and looks like it still offers protection on your corners. Have you had any issues getting hung up on anything with that setup?
Thanks

no issues as of yet. i think you will eventually want body armor for the corners no matter what bumper you get. rocks have a tendency to jump up and get ya.

If you plan on slimming your flares, either by cutting, tube or aftermarket plastics...i prefer the short rear bumpers. A full width with short flares can get goofy lookin on some rigs

I second Goody's comments above. Obviously the look of our mods come down to individual tastes. The risk (from my view) that you run with a full width rear and flat fenders is the lines might not match up with the flares being more tucked in as viewed from behind.

If that isn't a worry, then get any bumper/fender combo you would like. As for the rear corner protection, you will get the same from a shorty as any full width. With a rear corner impact, you are still going to come down on the bumper iron vs. the corners (unless you run into a 1 vs 1,000,000 pointed shaped rock).

Best of luck!

I'm running an loD shorty rear bumper with the Bushwhacker flat fenders. But, like the previous poster mentioned, it all comes down to individual taste.
