Default reciever hitch question????

This may be a stupid question but does anybody know if a class III reciever from an '04 avalanch fit on JK. A buddy of mine got new bumpers for his and has the old reciever sitting in garage. We were talking about my new JK tonight and he told me to find out if it does before i go and buy one. Any opions or answers on this would be great. And also are there in different or specific brands of recievers to get if this one won't fit my JK??? Just a broke Fireman trying to cut corners where I can!!!!!! Thanks

I'm pretty sure your friends hitch will not fit, the bolt holes will prob. not line up. There are plenty made especially for the JK if you do a search.

Default answer?

Unfortunately the hitch will not fit. The hitch design for the JK is very specific in it's bolt mount holes. As far as a Class III is concerned, due to the low towing capabilities of the JK, a class II is all is required. fortunately mopar actually did something great to assist us all in this. they manufactured a class II hitch with a class III/IV inlet. Making the reciever hitch much more useful.

heys guys,
Thanks. I didn't figure it would fit just thought i would ask. The biggest thing I am gonna pull is probably a 14 to 16 foot fishing boat. The main reason I am getting a hitch though is for one of those cargo trays. IS there a better brand of those trays or are they pretty much all the same?
