Default Regear and other engine enhancements

Looking for some advice. Have a 2007 4 door Sahara and plan to lift and add 33" tires. Right now have 32" MTR's. Have been very disappointed in engine performance as many others have also mentioned. What modifications would yield the greatest enhancements? Regearing to 4.56-have received mixed views on,some say will definitely improve even with 32's while others say will only burn more fuel with minimal improvement.
CAI and exhaust system-again some have told me would gain some noticeable power while others state very little benefit. Programmer-have read a decent amount of positive comments but received a # of negative real life experiences.
Understand the V6 does have some limitations but interested in anything that can yield some improvements.
Also, live in SC and would appreciate any recommendations of shop to have lift and other work done.
Thanks

I can understand your hesitation on programmers, my last vehicle and programmer were useless together, waste of money. However, the SC Flashpaq has been the best modification to my JK to date. Do you have an auto or manual? Tons of information on this topic so I won't rehash.

Thanks have read most of the posts. Just more of trying to prioritize to get most I can within a budget of around $2,000+/-. Probably a stupid question, but where I really feel the lack of performance is on highway particularly on hilly/mountain areas. Will moving to 4.56 gears help, hinder or not make much of a difference on highway/hilly roads. When Offroad I am fine as can throw in 4lo and get about anywhere. Also, my read on CAI and exhaust systems basically nice stuff but really minimal impacts. Programmers still concern me just because for every good report another report with number of issues.
Right now assuming will go to 33's, my priority list as follows:
1) regear 2) exhaust system 3) possibly CAI 4) maybe programmer if the other 3 do not yield desired results.
Thanks

Hi Rugger, Go with the gears, as I felt the cai and exhaust did not help at all. In fact I thought I lost power going with the Banks Monster system. Love my 513 with my automatic. I live in So. Calif. and drive up the Grapevine. This is a 3-4% steep incline. My Jeep use to shift from OD to 3rd to 2nd, then shift back to OD and it was driving me crazy. I would say every 30 seconds screaming at 5100 and then dropping to 1800. Now I just cruise at 60-65mph and my Jeep stays in the OD power range. I have even climbed this Grapevine with 750 lbs of dirt bike in my RECEIVER and held the MPH. This is NOT a trailer, a dual motorcycle carrier. CHUCH45 is very knowledgable on this site. Just for your info regear for your tires and do it once. I am not going to go larger than 33". Again the Performance Mods or regear is an excellent thread. The regearing cost me $1500.00 and the shop added c4 braces and welded then to the front axle for added strength. Use your money wisely. Happy Jeeping...

$2000 will get you the gears installed and the programmer at the same time.

Do that and you will definitely have the biggest bang for the buck for your two grand.

Done in tandem, exhaust and intake upgrades will be noticeable. One or the other, not so much.

With an automatic I'd line up with those who say get the gears first. With a 6 speed, get the other stuff first and you'll have a clear picture on exactly what gear set you need.

I wouldn't buy a CAI, just a high flow drop in filter replacement. I also wouldn't buy a full fledged cat back exhaust system, just a muffler relocate kit and new can. Add in the Superchips Flashpaq run a couple tanks through and decide on your gears. It's going to be moderately over the $2K budget, but you won't be looking over your shoulder.

I HAVE A AUTO JK 4DOOR WITH 35S AND WENT TO 5:13S AND WISH I WOULD HAVE GONE 538S BUT THEY WERE NOT AVAL AT THE TIME. IT IS WAY BETTER WITH THE 513S. AT FIRST I WAS SO HAPPY,BUT I WANT EVEN MORE SNAP THAN WHAT I HAVE. KEEP IN MIND IT IS WAY BETTER!!!! WELL WORTH THE CASH! MUCH BETTER UP AND DOWN HILLS! i CAN STILL PUT STOCK TIRES ON FOR WINTER AS I LIVE IN MICHIGAN AND IT IS VERY TOLLERABLE. I DROVE IT ALL THE WAY TO SOUTH CAROLINA THREW THE MOUNTAINS AND IT WAS MUCH BETTER THAN STOCK GEARS AND 35S! i WOULD GO ANOTHER GEAR UP IF YOU HAVE AUTO THAN WHAT A LOT OF THE GUYS SAY. I DONT REALLY 4 WHEEL,JUST A BIT OF HUNTING AND A LOT OF STREET SWEEPING. HOPE I HELPED!
